Huayuan Chemical Company Limited (former Zhangjiagang Fertilizer Factory) is a core enterprise of Jiangsu Huachang Group Limited. It is mainly involved in the manufacture of basic chemicals, fine chemicals and biochemicals. After more than thirty years of development, Huayuan Chemical has reached a considerable scale, having a fixed assets of 180 million RMB and a total staff of beyond 1200, including more than 200 technical engineers. It now produces annually 150,000 tons of synthetic ammonia, 300,000 tons of soda ash, 300,000 tons of ammonium chloride, 300,000 tons of compound fertilizer, 1,000 tons of hexahydro-1H-azapine, amino acids and other related products. The products have been well accepted by customers in China, and in Southeast Asia, South Korea and other countries. In the year 2002, Huayuan Chemical's sales and net income before taxes were 450 million RMB and 90 million RMB respectively.
