Globe Telecom, Inc. (PHL: GLO) is a joint venture of the Ayala Corporation and Singapore Telecom International, which in 1996 became the first Telecommunication Company to offer Internet services in the Philippines. Through the continuous upgrade of its Internet facilities, Globe Telecom transformed its Internet access services into a full-blown business dedicated entirely to serving the Internet community in the Philippines. Today, two major service categories emerged, Globe Net - the service that focuses on providing dial-up and dedicated access to both corporate and residential subscribers - and the Globe Internet Exchange or GIX - which provides wholesale access services for Internet Service Providers.
