Adelaide, Mar 31, 2006 (ABN Newswire) - Tasman Resources (ASX: TAS) will commence a drilling programme this year to progressively test seven uranium targets lying within 30 kilometres of the massive Olympic Dam mine.

Executive Chairman, Mr Greg Solomon, told the 2006 Uranium Conference in Adelaide that Tasman's tenements adjoining Olympic Dam had witnessed very limited drilling to date.

"Over the next one to two years you will see some serious action by Tasman on the uranium front," Mr Solomon said.

"Tasman holds 5800 square kilometres of exploration tenements, within a total portfolio of 9400 square kilometres, regarded by the Company as being highly prospective for uranium".

Mr Solomon said the size of Tasman's uranium portfolio saw it ranked fourth amongst a large number of uranium explorers in South Australia, headed only by the recently listed Toro Energy, Maximus Resources and Hindmarsh Resources.

He said Tasman also holds tenements that adjoin the Warrior uranium deposit near Tarcoola in the west of SA, containing known radiometric anomalies within the 40 kilometre-length Wynbring palaeochannels, as well as 80 kilometres length of the Garford palaeochannel system further to the north.

"Additionally, in the next three months, we hope to be drilling unconformity-style uranium target at Parkinson Dam, identified during the 1980s by PNC. They reported a surface rock chip sample, containing torbernite (a uranium mineral), which assayed 970ppm uranium. This sample was found a short distance from highly anomalous soil radon gas results", Mr Solomon said.
