Adelaide, Mar 8, 2007 (ABN Newswire) - West Australian iron ore explorer, Golden West Resources Limited (ASX: GWR) is pleased to announce it has appointed to its Board a Melbourne-based expert in strategic procurement and supply.
The appointment of Mr Constantino Markopoulos to the Board as a non-Executive Director coincides with the imminent escalation of planning and development of the Company's 100%-owned iron ore project at Wiluna in Western Australia.
Mr Markopoulos' professional career has spanned significant involvement in strategic procurement and management solutions within the resources, engineering, petro-chemicals, automotive, insurance and retail sectors, with a focus on cost reductions, consolidation and continuous improvement.
His senior management positions have included appointments with Beach Petroleum, Delhi Santos, Shell, ICI/Orica, Pasminco, RACV, Autojap and Coles Myer as well as the provision of strategic planning consultancy services to the private sector.
Mr Markopoulos' appointment is the second Board enhancement for Golden West in as many months with a former Sydney-based associate professor of law, and expert in corporate governance, taxation and negotiations with China trade officials, Mr Patrick Gallagher, being appointed earlier this year.
The Wiluna Iron Ore Project expects its maiden JORC resource estimates by the end of the current quarter with planning for first ore consignments to be exported through Esperance.
