Sydney, May 2, 2007 (ABN Newswire) - Ventracor Limited (ASX: VCR) today announced the appointment of a new Non-Executive Director.

Mr William Curran, who joins the board effective immediately, is a New York-based company director with extensive experience in the medical device industry, including a 28-year career with Philips culminating in a senior role with Philips Medical Systems in USA.

Ventracor Chairman Mr John Massey said: "As Ventracor continues the evolution into a successful global medical device company, the Board will also evolve, and we are very pleased that we are able to attract such a talented and distinguished Director to join our team."

Mr Massey noted the Board expects to appoint another new US-based Director with complementary skills to Mr Curran later this year.

William E Curran had a successful career with Philips from 1976 until 2004, involving a mix of functional and senior general management experience. The 10 years at Philips Medical Systems included positions of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, and while at Philips Electronics North America, he was President and Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer. William is presently a Director of Resonant Medical, a company specializing in three dimensional ultrasound image guided adaptive radiotherapy products, and was formerly director of the NASDAQ listed companies: FEI Company; MedQuist, and Navigation Technologies. William holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in Management Engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York.
