Sydney, July 17, 2007 (ABN Newswire) - The Australian share market ended flat today. Investors were looking for direction early with a mixed session on Wall Street overnight. Rio helped prop the market up throughout the afternoon.
The ASX 200 Index closed up 1point at 6382, and on the futures market the SPI 200 gained 3 points.
In economic news, Merchandise imports rose 1 per cent in June in seasonally adjusted terms. However imports of machinery and transport equipment decreased from $6.747 billion to $6.659 billion
