Sydney, July 20, 2007 (ABN Newswire) - Australian shares rose in morning trade after a record close for the U.S. Dow Jones index, while a further rise in base metals prices boosted top miner BHP Billiton.
At Midday the ASX200 index has added 24 points to 6,408 and on the futures market the SPI 200's up 21.
In economic news, Australia's import prices rose 0.1 percent in the second quarter and new motor vehicle sales for June rose by 2.2 per cent
