Sydney, July 23, 2007 (ABN Newswire) - Perpetual Limited has announced it has acquired the mortgage processing assets of National Lending Solutions for $3.5 million. NLS was wholly owned by Infochoice and the deal will go ahead without the need for shareholder approval. Perpetual is following a strategy of providing a comprehensive range of services in the mortgage and lending markets and NLS is the second purchase by Perpetual in this sector following the Wignalls Lenders Mortgage Services acquisition in February 2007. Fund manager Perpetual has been steadily increasing profit results since 2002.

Centennial Coal has released its quarterly activities report. Key points included some mines breaking all previous production records. Whilst some quarterly activities were lower than the same time last year full year production was higher. Centennial Coal also received approval for its major new open cut Anvil Hill mine. The company also stood by its outlook for profit after tax of $30 to $40 million in the 2007 financial year despite some weather related shipment delays. Centennial Coal's earnings highlight was in 2004.

Freshtel Holdings has appointed Mr. John Coates to the role of Chief Financial Officer. Mr Coates has a strong background in telecommunications having held the positions of CFO and General Manager of International Strategy at Telstra off-shoot Sensis from 2001. At Sensis Mr Coates negotiated several merger and Acquisition deals and developed an Asian investment strategy. Previous positions included stints with Telstra, Lockwood and Amcor. The appointment is effective immediately. Freshtel Holdings has been operating for two years and is yet to turn a profit
