Sydney, July 27, 2007 (ABN Newswire) - Zinc miner Zinifex reported June quarter production was up around 8 percent on the March Quarter with its Century mine posting a record quarterly zinc output. Full-year output for 2006/07 fell 5 percent below a year earlier. Zinifex also plans to increase spending on exploration and development to $100 million in 2007/08. Zinifex shareholders yesterday approved the firm's plan to merge its zinc smelting business with Belgium's Umicore. Zinifex has been producing outstanding profit results since 2004.

Seven Networks lawsuit against rival media firms regarding its pay TV station C7has been thrown rejected by the Federal Court. Seven filed a lawsuit in 2005 contending Foxtel used its market dominance to win broadcast rights for two major sporting events - Australian Rules Football and Rugby League. Seven accused media and telecoms firms of colluding to bring about C7's failure. Judge Ronald Sackville commented that 'Seven was far from a helpless victim' in the events and criticized parties over the wasteful costs of hearing the case. Seven has a strong record of profit results.

Beach Petroleum has released a progress report saying it expects to greatly increase probable reserves over the next 3 to 5 years at its Cooper Basin Project. Coal Seam Gas projects in QLD are progressing well. The Basker Manta Gummy wells also show increasing reserves with a higher than expected oil to gas ratio and what seems to be a much bigger structure. Beach Petroleum is expecting of 101 million barrels of oil equivalent in FY08, up from just under 20 million boe last year. Beach Petroleum has been steadily increasing profits over the last four years
