Sydney, Aug 7, 2007 (ABN Newswire) - The share market rallied today, led higher by Macquarie and the major retail banks. The big miners also recovered some ground.
The ASX 200 Index closed up 65 points at 5985, and on the futures market the SPI 200 gained 73 points.
In economic news, the latest survey on business conditions has revealed a very strong economy. The St George/Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry survey shows business confidence levels at an eight year high at 64. A reading above 50 indicated conditions are improving
