Sydney, Aug 9, 2007 (ABN Newswire) - Telstra has seen an increase in its full year profit. Earnings came in 3 per cent higher at $3.28 billion, slightly below market forecasts. Australia's largest telco said the increase was due to stronger mobile and broadband revenues, which offset restructuring costs. Telstra had earlier flagged to the market that 2007 would be the heaviest year for costs associated with its five year overhaul to reduce dependence on fixed-line revenues. Telstra's earnings dipped slightly from the previous year.

Adelaide Bank has had a strong year today announcing a solid full year profit result. Earnings rose 11 per cent to $104.3 million. That was slightly above most analysts' forecasts. Australia's ninth biggest lender says the result was helped by strong growth in its margin lending business. Adelaide Bank has produced an increasing run of earnings over the last four financial years.

And the good earnings results continue with Coca-Cola Amatil also reporting a large increase in profit. First half earnings for the soft drinks maker rose 10.7 per cent to $160.9 million. The result was boosted by strong pricing and sales in Australia and New Zealand. Last month the company sold its Korean business LG Household and Healthcare for slightly less than it had hoped for but for more than most analysts has expected.
