Sydney, Aug 9, 2007 (ABN Newswire) - The share market rose for a third straight session. Bendigo's bid for Adelaide Bank lifted banking stocks, while takeover speculation surrounding Brambles also gave the market a boost.
The ASX 200 Index closed up 65 points at 6166, and on the futures market the SPI 200 gained 73 points.
In economic news, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.3 per cent in July
