Sydney, Aug 10, 2007 (ABN Newswire) - The share market fell heavily today. The massive slump came as signs the issues arising from the U.S. sub prime mortgage market are broadening. The dive in the share market ended a 3 session winning streak where the index had risen over 4 per cent.
Today the ASX 200 Index closed down 230 points to 5936, and is down 85 points on the week. On the futures market the SPI 200 lost 217 points.
Looking to US indices now, the Dow Jones industrial Index climbed 89 points over the four day trading week. The S&P 500 moved 20 points higher, the NASDAQ lifted 45, and the 100 index managed 18 points
