Sydney, Aug 22, 2007 (ABN Newswire) - Australia's largest energy retailer AGL Energy says its outlook for 2008 is at the upper end of the forecast range as it reported its full year profit result this morning. AGL Energy posted earnings of $410.5 million but said the results were not able to be compared with the previous year. AGL Energy chairman Mark Johnson said the result was very pleasing given the tumultuous times experienced in the energy markets. AGL is active in power generation, power trading, and oil and gas production. AGL Energy experienced its earnings highlight in 2005. Symbion Health has reported an increase in its full year profit. Earnings rose to $91.4 million on an increase in operating earnings across all divisions. Symbion is currently the subject of a $2.9 billion takeover bid from a consortium led by rival Healthscope. Symbion is one of Australia's largest health care providers. Symbion Health's earnings slipped into the red for the second time over the last five years. And CSL has reported a solid increase in its full year profit. Earnings rose 48 per cent to $521 million, falling just below market forecasts. The result was underpinned by strong demand for plasma therapies. The world's top maker of plasma products also announced the buyback of 4.5 per cent of its shares. Managing director Brian McNamee says the size of the buyback has been balanced to ensure CSL retains the capacity to finance ongoing investment. CSL has produced profits over the last 5 financial years The full report is available at the following video and audio links.
