Perth, Jan 18, 2008 (ABN Newswire) - Engineering and construction company Clough Limited (ASX: CLO), in a three way joint venture, has secured work on the Gladstone Fitzroy Pipeline Project.
The CDU JV, comprising of Clough projects Australia; Diversified Construction Company and United Infrastructure is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the Project Delivery Phase (PDP) of the Gladstone to Fitzroy Pipeline project by the Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) for the Gladstone/Fitzroy Pipeline project.
The project is designed to secure a reliable long term water supply for the Gladstone region and is part of the Central Queensland Regional Water Supply Strategy and has also been declared as a significant project by the Co-Ordinator General.
The contract is based on the Early Contract Involvement (ECI) delivery model, which will allow the parties to work closely together in delivering a risk adjusted price (RAP) and which is scheduled for completion by the end of July 2008.
The scope of the project comprises of:
- 115km of pipeline between the Fitzroy River and Gladstone (via the proposed Stanwell- Gladstone Infrastructure Corridor);
- One Water Treatment Plant transferring up to 30 gigalitres of water per annum;
- Three pump stations and associated services;
- One service reservoir at Aldoga.
"The Gladstone Area Water Board is a new and valued client for us and we are delighted to have been awarded this contract," said Clough CEO John Smith.
"The contract, which will boost turnover on the east coast, is in line with our ongoing strategy of delivering major capital works that include much needed water infrastructure."
The CDU JV has engaged the services of Maunsell AECOM and Worley Parsons for the design of the project works.
GAWB will in the early part of 2008 decide on the construction component of the estimated $345M project provided a number of key GAWB hurdles have been met.
The construction may be completed as early as mid 2010.
The CDU JV partners offer significant strength in delivering projects of this type and the latest award confirms the participating JV Partners as industry leaders in the delivery of infrastructure projects.
