Brisbane, June 30, 2008 (ABN Newswire) - The Board of Republic Gold Limited (ASX:RAU) announces that drilling for the Phase 1 drilling programme for the 2008 field season at its Far North Queensland projects has been completed. This drilling was aimed at providing intersections to be used in a resource upgrade for the Northcote and Tregoora Gold Projects.

A total of 1,417 metres was drilled at the Northcote Project and 2,029 metres were drilled at the Tregoora Project. Additional drilling over that planned was done at Northcote to follow-up a prospective zone encountered early in the programme.

Samples for both projects have been submitted to the laboratory for analysis, with the first analysis results for the Northcote Project expected shortly.

Upon the receipt and analysis of these results a Stage 2 drilling programme will then be planned for Northcote and Tregoora, with drilling in this stage to also take place at the Whumbal West Tungsten Project.
