Perth, Aug 26, 2008 (ABN Newswire) - As announced in Northern Mining Limited's (ASX:NMI) June 2008 Quarterly Report, a three dimensional model was digitised by CSA Global from a series of historical mining plans sourced from Poland and dating back to the 1910's. The 3D model is being used in the assessment of the mineralisation potential of Radzimowice and for the planning of future exploration programmes (refer ASX announcement 31 July 2008 for more details). It has highlighted the potential for significant down dip extensions to the mineralized vein system and the possibility of remnant mineralisation proximal to historic workings, where historic grades of 10-44g/t Au were recorded.

Based on this model, Northern Mining is examining the potential down dip extension of the vein system and targeting a range of 1,500 - 2,500 ounces per vertical metre. CSA has designed a preliminary drilling program to test this down dip potential.

RADZIMOWICE GOLD PROJECT, POLAND (Northern Mining Limited 80%)

Commencement of Work Programs

Work programmes have commenced at the Radzimowice Gold Project in Poland.

Project Location:

The Project is situated in south-western Poland in the Kaczawa Mountains approximately 10 kilometres west of the town of Bolkow, near the town of Wojcieszow in Lower Silesia

History of Radzimowice Mining

Au-Cu-As-Ag mineralisation in the Radzimowice district has been exploited since the 15 - 16th centuries, with the processing of copper, arsenic, gold and silver ores. Mining continued intermittently until 1925, when the last mine in the Radzimowice district closed due to low demand and price for arsenic products. In 1952 - 53 the mines were reopened with over 1,400 metres of new underground galleries constructed. The underground mining was abandoned in 1957.

Three Stage Geophysical Programme:

A three stage Geophysical programme was designed by our Polish Geological Consultant in line with the conditions of the work programme submitted to the Polish Government with the concession application:

Stage 1: VLF-EM mapping, distance between measurement points (step) - 10m

Stage 2: Detailed VLF-EM mapping, step 5-10 m, short profiles 200-300m located within different areas.

Stage 3: Electrical Resistivity Tomography (Resistivity Imaging) measurements for detailed recognition of promising mineralized zones, qualification of width and dip.

Stage 1 of the Geophysical programme has been completed and the results are currently being analysed. Progression onto Stage 2 of the programme is expected to commence within the next month.

Geology of Radzimowice Mineralisation

Radzimowice consists of two major areas of mineralisation, referred to as the south and north. The northern mineralised ore field is located between the Arnold and Luis shafts and contains five major mineralised veins namely Olga, Wanda, Alexandra, Maria, and Klara. The Miner's Consolation vein lies to the south of the Arnold shaft within the southern ore field. These veins are typically 180 - 320m long and 6 - 20 mm wide, except for the Miner's Consolation vein which is more than 2.4 km in length, 1.4m thick and extends to at least 240m in depth

At Radzimowice, gold-bearing quartz-sulphide-carbonate veins are related to Upper Carboniferous (c.a. 315 Ma) igneous rocks that comprise the Zelezniak rhyolite intrusion in the Kaczawa Mountains, situated in the Western Sudetes. The intrusion was emplaced into Paleozoic sedimentary-volcanic rock sequences of the Kaczawa metamorphic complex. Auriferous mineralisation is structurally controlled and hosted mainly by sericite-graphite schists and rhyolites which are weakly mineralized with disseminated gold grades of up to 2 g/t.

The mineralisation can be massive or occurs in the form of breccia, veinlets, stockwork or dissemination in the country rocks. Ore minerals are pyrite, auriferous arsenopyrite and chalcopyrite, and rarely galena, sphalerite and tetrahedrite. Gold occurs as refractory and microscopic-size grains.

NORTHERN MINING'S EXPLORATION PORTFOLIO - POLAND

The Radzimowice Gold Project complements the Company's exploration portfolio in Poland. NMI recently made a JORC compliant public announcement of an Inferred Mineral Resource of 16.8Mt @ 0.6% Ni for 94,000t contained metal at its Szklary Nickel Project, located approximately 90 kilometres from Radzimowice (refer ASX announcement 29 July 2008).

About NORTHERN MINING LIMITED

Northern Mining Limited (NMI) is an Australia-based company with an exploration portfolio of gold, nickel, base metals and uranium tenements in Western Australia and the Northern Territory. It has expanded its portfolio within Western Australia and acquired an 80% interest offshore, in the Szklary Nickel Project, Poland. The East Kalgoorlie Project in Western Australia encompasses 79 tenements prospective for nickel, gold and base-metal mineralization. Five tenements (NMI 100%) prospective for uranium and base-metals, formed the Northern Territory Project. With the 80% acquisition of the Stokes Yard Project the Northern Territory Project also became prospective for zinc, lead and copper. NMI signed an agreement with Quaalup Investments Pty Ltd in February 2007, for 100% interest in the Durack Range Project, a contiguous area in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia. Exploration license applications 80/3848, 3849 and 3865 cover an area of more than 1200 square kilometers.
