PÖYRY AWARDED WATER SECTOR OWNER'S ENGINEERING SERVICES CONTRACT IN THE UAE
Pöyry has been awarded a contract by Tanqia Dibba FZC as owner's engineer for the wastewater system of Dibba, Emirate of Fujairah, UAE. The project will be completed by mid 2011. The value of the assignment is not disclosed.
The project includes design services and construction supervision of a wastewater treatment plant and the sewerage and treated effluent networks for Dibba. In addition, Pöyry will execute the design for the extension of the wastewater treatment plant in Fujairah.
Special consideration will be given to generating high-quality treated effluent to replace water from more valuable sources. Additionally, gas produced in the treatment of sludge will be used to supply part of the energy for electricity and cooling of the plant.
The Fujairah and Dibba projects are developed under a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) approach, these being the first privately owned wastewater collection and treatment systems in the UAE and the Middle East.
