Perth, Mar 31, 2009 (ABN Newswire) - Leading Australian clean automotive technology company Automotive Technology Group (ATG) (ASX:ATJ) is pleased to announce that it has lodged a new patent application for its Sprintex Supercharger technology, which delivers further major advancements in performance and confirms Sprintex as the world's best supercharger product.
The new patent application is the culmination of an exhaustive improvement and testing program conducted by ATG which has resulted in improvements in performance to in excess of 100% Volumetric Efficiency (VE). VE measures the efficiency in which an internal combustion engine can move air into and out of cylinders, and is a key component in reducing vehicle emissions.
The Sprintex Supercharger is ATG's headline product. It delivers lower emissions and greater fuel efficiency from automotive engines, and also has applications in the industrial compressor market.
The testing also achieved very low discharge temperatures, which is a major advantage in that it eliminates the requirement for inter-cooling in almost all applications. In addition the power usage required to drive the Supercharger has fallen dramatically, to less than 3KW @ 6000 rpm (for a S4 150 supercharger at 1.4 Pressure Ratio).
The application of ATG's green Sprintex Technology on a standard V6 engine (previously tested by an ADR approved testing facility) resulted in a 50% reduction in emissions from the legal maximum requirement.
The Company is of the conclusive view that its extensive testing program has confirmed that the patented green technology Sprintex Supercharger is the world's best Supercharger product for automotive and industrial applications.
ATG Executive Director - Corporate Steven Apedaile said that increasing numbers of both motorcycle and motor vehicle manufacturers were turning to supercharging to help reach tougher emissions and fuel efficiency targets being enforced by governments globally.
"The lodgement of the new patent application will keep ATG and our green technology Sprintex Supercharger at the forefront of the world's supercharger market, in both automotive and compressor applications," Mr Apedaile said.
The global pressure to meet tougher emissions regulations standards is increasing, as evidenced by the increased level of enquires from the world's automobile manufacturers, and this is the driving philosophy behind ATG's Sprintex technology.
