Sydney, Aug 25, 2009 (ABN Newswire) - iSOFT Group Limited (ASX:ISF) gained an important foothold in the Commonwealth Government's GP Super Clinics program after Balance! Healthcare selected the company's Monet primary care solution for its Blue Mountains and Cairns GP Super Clinics.

"This is a clear signal that iSOFT is regarded as a technology innovator and the ideal partner to pioneer key initiatives such as GP Super Clinics," said Denis Tebbutt, Managing Director of iSOFT Australia and New Zealand. "Our primary care solutions are truly scalable to meet the needs of individual clinics as well as large-scale, remote medical environments. We will continue to collaborate with peak bodies to guarantee that our strategies are aligned and consistently support essential national priorities such as GP Super Clinics."

"Monet is a scalable, enterprise-wide patient management system, that meets our business needs across both sites," said Kate Gunn, Balance! Healthcare's Chief Executive Officer. "It underpins our model of patient-centred care, while enabling us to respond to local community needs with accessible, culturally appropriate and affordable care. It also supports preventative and evidence-based care to improve clinical outcomes, reduce lifestyle risks, and effectively manage chronic and complex conditions," Gunn said.

"iSOFT is a company with a proven track-record and a willingness to form a partnership to ensure we achieve the right results. One of the greatest challenges that we face in both the Cairns and Blue Mountains GP Super Clinic is the IT e-health record consent model. iSOFT is working hard with us and our stakeholders, which include our own practices and partners, Queensland Health, Sydney West Area Health Service, and interested Divisions of General Practice, to ensure that our IT implementation is robust and ensures patients' privacy and security needs are met."

The system will give GPs, nurses, specialists and allied health professionals secure access to a shared patient record and so promote collaboration between care providers, in line with the aims of the Australian Primary Care Collaboratives Program and Improvement Foundation Australia. Monet's ease of use and extensive functionality were other important factors in the decision.

"Monet is ideally suited to the multi-site, multi-discipline super clinic model," said Denis Tebbutt, Managing Director of iSOFT Australia and New Zealand. "With Balance! Healthcare acting as our centre of excellence, we are confident of achieving further success in this important sector."

The initial implementation at Blue Mountains and Cairns will provide practice and clinical management services for up to 80 users.
