G-Resources is a Hong Kong listed gold exploration, development and operating company that is looking to grow a world class Asia/Pacific based and focussed gold company. G-Resources holds the Martabe gold and silver project in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The project is under development and expected to be in production end 2010 at the rate of 250,000 oz pa gold and 3m oz pa silver. Owen Hegarty has nearly 40 years experience in the global mining industry. He had 25 years with the Rio Tinto group where he was Managing Director of Rio Tinto Asia and Managing Director of the Group's Australian copper and gold business. He was the founder of the Oxiana Ltd Group which grew from a small exploration company to a multi-billion dollar Australia and Asia focussed base and precious metals producer, developer and explorer. Oxiana became Oz Minerals Ltd. For his achievements and leadership in the mining industry Owen was awarded the AusIMM Institute Medal in 2006 and the G.J. Stokes Memorial Award in 2008.
Owen is presently Executive Vice Chairman of Hong Kong listed G-Resources Group Ltd, a Non-Executive Director of Australian Fortescue Metals Group Ltd, Non-Executive Director of Range River Gold Limited, a Director of the AusIMM, and a member of the South Australian Minerals and Petroleum Expert Group, advising the Premier on mining in that State.
