Republic Gold Limited (ASX:RAU) Amayapampa Gold Project Commences Project Works Under Environmental Licence

Brisbane, May 11, 2010 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Republic Gold Limited (ASX:RAU) are pleased to advise that the Company has commenced operating at the Amayapampa Gold Project in Bolivia ("Amayapampa" or the "Project") under the Project's Environmental Licence that was granted in 2007.

Republic Gold Managing Director John Kelly said that "the formal commencement of pre-construction works under the licence represents an important step forward in the progression of the Project."

Operations under its 2007 Environmental Licence commenced following a recent exchange of letters between the Company and the Director General of Environment and Climate Change in the Vice Ministry of Environment, Biodiversity and Climate Change, the main mining environmental authority in Bolivia.

Republic Gold's immediate term focus is to complete the infill trenching program that is already revealing higher grade than estimated in initial resource block modelling, as well as advancing the training programme for the workforce and other pre-construction works.

The Company will also fast-track the consultants' programmes now underway with the two engineering contracting firms involved in completing the metallurgical component of the Bankable Feasibility Study, including tailings dam and water supply studies as well as treatment plant design and costings.
