Shanghai, April 13, 2011 (ABN Newswire) - Siemens AG (NYSE:SI) (ETR:SIE) will present its green building solutions at Global Green Building China Focus 2011 Conference to be held on 14th-17th June in Beijing.

As the world undergoes unprecedented changes such as globalization, urbanization, climate change and demographic shifts, all the countries and cities must incorporate sustainable measures so that there can be real progress on climate change and future sustainability.

"40% of energy consumption and 21% of greenhouse gas emissions come from buildings." The growing challenges brought about by global warming, urbanization and other anthropogenic factors have made "intelligent" and "green" design two of the most essential aspects of urban development. In order to counteract the detriments caused by world's excessive pollution and wasteful energy consumption, the Siemens Industry Sector Building Technologies Division (Siemens I BT) has focused on providing a wide range of solutions and services including building automation, fire safety, HVAC, security, low voltage, energy saving and Green Building certification. By championing "Total Building Solution," "Energy Management & Control System" and "Green Building Certification," Siemens BT is essentially redefining the entire building into a green, intelligent, secure, comfortable, and energy saving structure.

Siemens I BT has an enormous existing market because of its vast installed base for around total 65,000 buildings worldwide. The building management systems (BMS) serve as the backbone to all highly efficient buildings, because they can integrate all of a building's operations in the most optimal way. The existing building market is large and often overlooked in terms of Green solutions; given Siemens large installed base and Green Building product portfolio, existing buildings will now have the ability to revive their property value, operational efficiency and environmental contribution.

Siemens' Environmental Portfolio reduced CO2 emissions by 210 MTs, roughly the emissions of 49,874,850 cars driven 20,000 kilometers a year. In 2010, Siemens green technologies has cut CO2 emissions by 270MTs, about the emissions of 6 megacities a year including Hong Kong, London, New York, Tokyo, Delhi, Singapore.

In Taiwan, Siemens has supported TAIPEI 101 in applying for LEED Platinum certification, making it the world's tallest Green Building. It is estimated that TAIPEI 101 can enjoy an annual reduction of 10% in energy costs, 10% in water consumption, and 10% in wastage, adding up to a total of 20 million NT saved per year. This marks a newer, higher and greener standard for all buildings in Taiwan.
