"For the past five years, the Mining, Resources & Energy sector has been among the industries with the lowest job ad growth on SEEK, so this is very encouraging news for people looking at working in this industry, or those looking to develop their career in this industry," Ilczynski said.

"This latest advertising growth on SEEK for the Mining, Resources & Energy industry is not just isolated to April. Over the past three months [February to April 2017], advertising across Australia for this industry has risen 70 per cent y/y, when compared to the corresponding period in 2016.

"In South Australia, Queensland, and the ACT this April, the competition conditions were challenging for both job seekers and hirers, with little year on year change in Queensland and the ACT. In South Australia, there was a slight improvement for jobseekers.

"While in WA, TAS, and the NT, it was a hirer's market this April. For each job advertised there was a higher than average number of candidates applying, creating more competition for job seekers but providing hirers with a larger pool of candidates to choose from," Ilczynski added.
