Sheffield Resources Limited (ASX:SFX) today announced excellent drilling results at its West Mine North heavy mineral sands (HMS) project in Western Australia. The results confirm a zone of high grade mineralisation approximately 3.5km long grading more than 2.5% of heavy minerals. The deposit is held under three granted mining leases and has potential for near-term development. The resource estimation is underway and scoping studies are on schedule to commence in October 2011.

Guildford Coal Limited (ASX:GUF) has completed the US$3.5m acquisition of a new exploration permit in Mongolia. An Exploration Target of 0-122Mt has been estimated for this tenement which takes the company's total Exploration Target in Mongolia to 29-731Mt. The newly acquired tenement has the potential to host large scale thermal and coking coal mineral resources and represents an opportunity for the Company to become a coal producer within 12 months.

Monax Mining Limited (ASX:MOX) has purchased a tenement and increased its exposure to potential copper mineralisation on the highly prospective Yorke Peninsula in South Australia to four exploration licences, covering an area of 401 km2. Previous drilling on the tenement found up to 5.3m at 1.66% copper. Monax is planning a sampling program followed by aircore drilling.

Axiom Mining Limited (ASX:AVQ) will commence a three phase exploration program over two years to evaluate the gold and copper prospectivity of the Quang Tri Exploration Mineral Licence area in Vietnam. Phase one activities are expected to commence this week, which will consist of establishing survey control, geological mapping and reconnaissance diamond drilling.
