PVA TePla AG (FRA:TPE) Major Order Of Float-zone Systems From Korea

(Wettenberg, January 13, 2009) - PVA TePla Danmark, Frederikssund, a branch of PVA TePla AG, Wettenberg, and a manufacturer of float-zone crystal growing systems, has received an order from a big Korean company to supply slim-rod pullers and analysis systems. The order is worth around EUR 5 million. The systems will be delivered to the customer during 2009.

The Danish branch of PVA TePla is specializing in the manufacture of float-zone crystal growing systems, with which highly-pure, monocrystalline silicon rods can be manufactured, for example for high-frequency applications in the semiconductor industry and for highly efficient photovoltaic wafers. Float-zone systems became also a key element in the production chain for the manufacture of polysilicon as a basic material for wafers. PVA TePla Danmark already has realized since last year a couple of orders from manufacturers of polysilicon. In the system type ordered by the customer in Korea, thin silicon rods, on which the high-purity silicon is subsequently deposited during the production process in the reactor, are manufactured. In the additionally supplied analysis systems, the quality and purity of the produced polysilicon are examined by converting the material to a monocrystalline structure.

Further sales opportunities for float-zone systems are considered to be arising as a result of the continuing global ramp-up of production capacity for polysilicon in the next years.

This big order for the Danish subsidiary further strengthens the market position of PVA TePla in Korea.
