Approval Likely to Accelerate MABR Deployments Worldwide

Emefcy Group Limited (ASX:EMC) (OTCMKTS:EMFGF) ("Emefcy"), a provider of innovative, high effluent quality, wastewater treatment solutions, today announced that its Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor-based ("MABR") wastewater treatment facility at Bordeaux in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, was approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

With EPA approval, Emefcy expects to accelerate MABR sales into the U.S., Latin American, and Caribbean markets. The approval may also significantly enhance the acceptance of MABR-based treatment solutions in China. China's Class 1A effluent standard, which is adopted under the current Five Year Plan for rural wastewater treatment solutions, closely follows the US EPA standards.

Serving a rural community of 200 homes, Emefcy's MABR wastewater treatment facility in Bordeaux produces a clean effluent that is safely discharged locally. Receipt of the permit allows the Virgin Islands Wastewater Management Authority to decommission its old treatment plant following the success of Emefcy's installation.

Emefcy Executive Chairman Richard Irving commented: "We are excited to receive the U.S. EPA approval for our Bordeaux plant, as it validates the outstanding performance of our MABR technology. The plant is an important reference site for the U.S., Latin American and Caribbean markets. We believe that getting such a strong endorsement from this prominent environmental body will result in meaningful sales opportunities in the U.S. and will support the approval processes currently underway in China."

Emefcy's MABR technology leads the industry in offering commercial wastewater treatment solutions with up to 90% less energy consumption, low operational costs and low capital expenditure. MABR utilizes a spirally wound air sleeve submerged in a tank, through which wastewater is fed continuously and effluent is discharged by overflow. Through Emefcy's patented passive aeration process, the MABR solution saves significant energy by eliminating the need to blow aeration under high pressure. This solution is ideal for small- to medium-sized plants, providing quiet and odourless wastewater treatment to rural villages, hotels, resorts, golf courses and municipalities.
