The Directors of Great Artesian Oil and Gas Limited (ASX: GOG) are pleased to advise that they have appointed David Williams as the Company's Managing Director on a permanent basis.

Alinta Limited was informed today that Beach Petroleum Limited and Anzon Australia Limited had deferred the development of the Basker Manta and Gummy gas fields. As a consequence, a conditional long-term agreement to supply gas to Alinta's proposed Tamar Valley Power Station in Tasmania will lapse on 28 June 2007.

The Australian Gas Light Company (ASX: AGL)(OTCBB: AOGC)(PNK: AUGLF) today announced an offer to merge with Alinta Limited (ASX: ALN), offering 0.564 AGL shares for every Alinta share, implemented through a scrip-for-scrip off-market takeover offer by AGL for all Alinta ordinary shares. Following the merger, AGL intends to proceed with a demerger of the combined AGL/Alinta energy and infrastructure businesses.

Last night, Alinta's (ASX: ALN) advisers met with advisers of Australian Gas Light Company (ASX: AGL) to discuss and agree on a protocol for furthering Alinta's proposal to merge the two companies.
