Incorporated in 2007, Emu Nickel was formed to farm-in to Image Resources’ extensive portfolio of nickel projects in the Eastern Goldfields and Forrestania-Southern Cross nickel provinces and in turn allow Image to focus on its core mineral sand projects.
The Company's objective is to discover high-value nickel sulphide deposits in Australia by exploring its portfolio of projects in order to create wealth for its shareholders. Emu aims to achieve this objective by the application of sound geoscientific and commercial criteria and, where appropriate, by partnering with other companies which have the skills and financial resources to add value to Emu Nickel’s projects.

Emu Nickel NL (ASX:EMU) has completed a first pass aircore drilling programme at the Windy Knob Joint Venture (ASX:WKR) situated 55km south of Meekatharra in the Murchison region of WA. The drilling programme comprised 84 holes totalling 5,125m aimed at testing several geological, geochemical and geophysical targets near the recent Austin volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) discovery where significant copper-zinc-gold drill intersections have been reported.

Emu Nickel NL (ASX:EMU) has reached agreement with Windy Knob Resources (ASX:WKR) to include an additional exploration licence (E51/1300) in the Windy Knob joint venture 80km south of Meekatharra, increasing the JV area from 183sq km to 273sq km. Under the terms of the amended joint venture agreement EMU may earn a 51% interest in the expanded JV by expenditure of A$450,000 within three years.
A review of historical information on Emu Nickel's (ASX:EMU) joint venture with Windy Knob Resources Limited (ASX:WKR) at Austin (EMU ASX Release 12 March 2009) has identified strongly anomalous zinc values reported in an old aircore drill hole on one of EMU's target areas within the joint venture tenements.
As Emu Nickel NL (ASX:EMU) recently announced (EMU ASX release 22 April 2009), interpretation of previous drilling results has identified new exploration targets at the Binti Gossan Zone. The geological and geochemical trends in the ultramafic komatiite host suggest that the channel facies of the ultramafic plunges to the north, and not to the south as previously thought.

Emu Nickel NL (ASX:EMU) has entered into a joint venture agreement with Windy Knob Resources Limited (ASX:WKR) on WKR's 100%-owned Windy Knob copper-zinc-gold project on exploration licence E51/900 situated about 55km south of Meekatharra, WA. The WKR tenement is strategically located around and in part along strike from a volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) discovery reported at the nearby Austin prospect.
