LG Display Co Ltd., formerly LG.Philips LCD Co., Ltd., is a manufacturer and merchant supplier of thin-film transistor liquid crystal displays (TFT-LCD) panels. The Company manufactures TFT-LCD panels in a range of sizes and specifications primarily for use in televisions, notebook computers, desktop monitors and other applications. It also supplies high-definition television panels. It manufactures TFT-LCDs for handheld application products, such as mobile phones and personal digital assistants, as well as for industrial and other applications, such as entertainment systems, automobile navigation systems, portable digital versatile disc (DVD) players, digital photo displays and medical diagnostic equipment. During the year ended December 31, 2007, the Company sold a total of 79 million large-size (10-inch or larger) TFT-LCD panels. It established a new subsidiary, LG Display Singapore Pte. Ltd., engaged in the sale of thin film transistor liquid crystal display, on January 12, 2009.

Overnight the Wall Street was stronger after the bill overhauling the US healthcare system was passed. Asian stock markets were mostly lower on Monday as Reserve Bank of India unexpectedly increased the official interest rate by 25 basis points. The Indian central bank's move has raised fears of an earlier-than-expected rate hike in China. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 2.05 per cent and South Korea's Kospi was down 0.8 per cent. But Shanghai composite edged 0.2 per cent higher. Japanese markets, which were closed for public holiday yesterday, resume trading on Tuesday.

Most Asian markets ended lower Thursday, giving up gains from the previous session. Japan's Nikkei 225 finished down 2.4% as exporters were hit by the stronger yen. Other major indexes including China's Shanghai Composite, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index and South Korea's Kospi ended with rather small changes as investors were not confident to the economic outlook and waiting for a clear picture.

Most Asian markets declined on Monday. Japan's Nikkei average tumbled 1.2% to a 26-year low, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index slumped 4.8%, the sharpest fall in the major indexes in Asia. China's Shanghai Composite was down 3.4%. But South Korea's Kospi ended 1.6% higher lifted by technology and shipbuilding sectors.
