Adelaide, Oct 30, 2006 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Golden West Resources (ASX: GWR) commenced a major RC drilling program testing Stage 1 and 2 iron ore targets within the Wiluna West Project, with a total of 6,800m of RC drilling being completed during the quarter.

Drilling at the C4 prospect has so far confirmed geologic expectations, that this unit comprises a potentially major iron ore resource. Significant intercepts include:
WWRC200, 54M @ 63.3% Fe from 36m to end of hole ("EOH")WWRC202, 33M @ 61.7% Fe from 31mWWRC302, 48M @ 61.5% Fe from 32m to EOHWWRC308, 61M @ 62.4% Fe from 19m to EOHWWRC312, 77M @ 63.8% Fe from 3m to EOH
The C4 prospect is at least 1km in length, up to 130m in true widths, open along strike and at depth and has the potential to host a resource in the magnitude of 50 to 100 million tonnes.

Drilling is well advanced at the Bowerbird prospect, which is being targeted to underpin the Stage 1 development of the project. Significant intercepts include:
WWRC252, 33M @ 62.2% Fe from 31mWWRC256, 22M @ 61.6% Fe from 15mWWRC265, 15M @ 64.6% Fe from 28m

Infill drilling at Bowerbird will be completed in November with resource/reserve estimates to be completed by the Company's consultant, Snowdens.

Extension and infill drilling will continue at the C4 prospect, and drilling of the C1, C2 and C3 prospects will commence during the December 2006 quarter.

A maiden resource estimate for the C4 deposit is expected to be completed by Snowden's during the March 2007 quarter.

The company believes that it is well on track to defining its targeted reserves of 5 million tonnes and resources of the magnitude 150 to 200 million tonnes.
