Perth, Mar 23, 2009 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Emergent Resources Limited (ASX:EMG) is pleased to provide its endorsement and support for the mid-west infrastructure agreement between the Western Australian Government and the Murchison Metals (ASX: MMX)-Mitsubishi Development Pty Ltd, Oakajee Port & Rail (OPR) joint venture.

The agreement paves the way for the development of the Oakajee port and rail infrastructure project into a world-class open access infrastructure network for the mid-west region of WA.

Emergent believes that the agreement, announced on Friday, will provide a strong measure of certainty for the future transport infrastructure requirements for all mining exploration and development companies in the burgeoning mid-west iron ore precinct.

The Company's headline project is the Beyondie Iron Project which it plans to develop into a robust, long term, large scale, high grade magnetite mining operation. The project is located immediately adjacent to the Great Northern Highway and Goldfields Gas Pipeline, and will directly benefit from the infrastructure agreement by providing certainty for the project's future mine-to-port transport infrastructure requirements.

Emergent's Managing Director Garry Hemming said: "Emergent Resources endorses and applauds the Premier of Western Australia and his government, and the joint venture partners on this ground breaking agreement for the Oakajee port and rail infrastructure project".

"This provides much needed infrastructure certainty for all users in the region, and importantly for Emergent, the development timeframe for the Oakajee project compliments our own timeline for bringing Beyondie into production," Mr Hemming said.
