David Armstrong to join Board 5 August 2014
Mr Armstrong is a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and will retire from PwC in July 2014.
Mr Chaney said Mr Armstrong's extensive experience in financial services and accounting made him a valuable addition to the NAB Board. In addition, Mr Armstrong will become Chairman of the Board's Audit Committee, when the current Committee Chairman, John Thorn, retires from the Board in December 2014.
Mr Armstrong has more than 30 years' experience in financial services and brings deep knowledge and understanding of banking and capital markets as well as the reporting, regulatory and risk challenges faced by the industry.
He holds a Bachelor of Business, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
"We are delighted David has accepted our invitation to join the Board given his significant knowledge and understanding of banking and capital markets. His expertise, developed over more than 30 years' providing professional services to Australian and international industry participants, including as an audit partner of PwC, will be invaluable," Mr Chaney said.
