This agreement means that the Disney Channels France team will manage Jetix' French channel operations with immediate effect alongside its existing channels - Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney.
Jetix Europe has taken this decision after a full review of its strategic options. The new deal will allow Jetix to retain a profitable business in France following the recent renewal of a multi-year distribution agreement.
The move also allows Jetix' French channel to work more closely with its majority shareholder's channels, Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney, both in terms of sharing resources and enjoying greater synergies both on and off-air.
Consumer Products in France will continue to be managed by Jetix Consumer Products, the licensing division of Jetix Europe. The day-to-day management of the Jetix TV channel and website in France, including adsales, marketing, programming and online, will be handled by Disney Channels France.
Paul Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of Jetix Europe, said: "We looked into various options for how we could most profitably run our channel in France going forward. We believe that licensing it to Disney will maintain its success as one of France's most-watched kids TV channels, whilst also reducing the operational cost and ensuring profitability for all of our shareholders. It will also position Jetix France much closer to our parent company's French kids channels, allowing both parties to share resources and expertise in this competitive market."
