DSM N.V. (RDSMY) Royal DSM N.V. has appointed Mrs A.M. (Margo) Vliegenthart as member of the Supervisory Board of DSM Nederland B.V. ("DSM Netherlands") with effect from 1 August 2008. Mrs Vliegenthart fills the vacancy caused by the untimely death of Mr M.A.M. (Thijs) Wöltgens earlier this year.
Mrs Vliegenthart (50, Dutch nationality) was State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sports from 1998 to 2002. She currently holds a variety of managerial and supervisory positions. Among other things, she is a Crown-appointed member of the Dutch Socio-Economic Council (SER), a member of the Financial Supervisory Board for the Netherlands Antilles and a member of the Supervisory Board of the PGGM pension fund. The Central Works Council of DSM Netherlands has made a positive recommendation regarding the appointment. The other two members of the Supervisory Board of DSM Netherlands are Mr Feike Sijbesma (chairman) and Mr Evert Rongen.
The appointment of Mrs Vliegenthart also fits in with DSM's aim of achieving greater diversity (including diversity in background and experience), not just across its workforce but also in management and in supervisory bodies.
"We are very pleased to be able to welcome Margo Vliegenthart as member of the Supervisory Board," says Feike Sijbesma, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of DSM Netherlands and Chairman of the Managing Board of Royal DSM N.V. "With her extensive experience in both political and supervisory positions she is eminently qualified to be a member of the Supervisory Board of DSM Netherlands."
