Itabela Drilling Program Commenced
Brisbane, Feb 29, 2016 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Sayona Mining Limited (
ASX:SYA) ("Sayona" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the commencement of drilling at the Itabela graphite project in Brazil.
The first vertical hole was drilled at Sao Manuel and intersected visible large and jumbo flake graphite from 7 metres to 84 metres. The hole ending in mineralisation. The second and third holes were drilled from the same pad and inclined at -55? as scissor holes and intersected the same visible graphite mineralisation to depths of 46 and 51 metres, respectively.
The air-core drilling program is expected to take a month and will comprise approximately 2,000 metres and approximately 30 boreholes. The aims of the drilling program include:
- Testing the grade, strike and lateral extensions of known mineralisation at Sao Manuel and Sao Ruben;
- Testing depth extensions to known mineralisation where the limit of drilling is generally between 10 and 20 metres from surface;
- Drilling a number of higher-grade satellite areas where there is limited drilling; and
- Validating assays from historical drilling programs.
The drilling data will be used to complete a resource estimate and scoping study.
